The RDCIS organisation is structured around specialisation in the 6 technology Areas that are at the core of the steel process chain. Though the design lo
gic of the RDCIS organisation has a focus on functional specialisation, the project planning and selection methodology provide for inter-disciplinary projects whose management and execution follow the matrix structure, which most research organisations are known to adopt The Technology Areas are named after the major process areas and the Groups within each Division work on specific process segments of that Technology Area.. As an ISO 2001: 9000 certified organisation, the focus of work is on continual process improvement. All project activity conforms to procedures drawn up to meet this end and documented in the Quality Management System (QMS).
